Creating a Ship Building Yard Fly-Through

The Challenge

Manor Marine operate from a busy working facility, combining boat building, fabrication, storage, and hands-on marine work within a single site.

The key challenges were:

  • Safely flying indoors around people and equipment

  • Maintaining smooth, cinematic movement through tight spaces

  • Capturing multiple operational areas in one coherent sequence

  • Ensuring staff felt comfortable and informed during filming

  • Showing the full breadth of Man & Marine’s services without staged scenes

Our Approach

We selected an FPV cinewhoop drone setup designed specifically for indoor and close-proximity flying.

For this shoot we used:

  • A GEPRC Cinewhoop FPV drone

  • Stabilised camera system optimised for cinematic indoor movement

  • Fully risk-assessed flight plan and pre-shoot briefing

Prior to filming, all staff were briefed on:

  • The flight path and timing

  • Where the drone would pass

  • When active work would be captured on camera

A small number of staff were gently directed to continue working naturally during the fly-through, ensuring the footage felt authentic rather than staged.

The FPV drone was flown smoothly through:

  • Workshop and fabrication areas

  • Boat building spaces

  • Storage and operational zones

  • Active working environments with staff in frame

This approach allowed us to capture people, process, and place in a single, continuous sequence.
